Hey Sara, so what have you been up to since the CrossFit Games finished?
I took a good 3 week vacation and traveled around the Caribbean!
How did you find training in the USA?
I LOVED IT!! The community in Mayhem was unreal, I am so lucky that I met Yvette (manager of Crossfit Mayhem) and she completely took me in as her own daughter, I stayed with her throughout the whole season and it was amazing.
What was it like training alongside Rich and the rest of CrossFit Mayhem?
I learned a lot, and enjoyed it so much… The team is just so helpful and supportive. And not only the team, everybody in Cookeville were so welcoming and willing to do everything to help me feel like I was at home.
Will you continue to stay and train there, or will we ever see you back in Europe/Iceland and at The Meridian Regionals?
I have been in Iceland after my vacation, then next stop is visiting the USA for a few day´s then I will head to Australia to compete at the Invitationals.
Working hard at Crossfit Mayhem. Big thanks to Preston Smith (@prestonsmithphotography) for the awesome photographs he captured that day. How does your training differ throughout the year? What will you concentrate on in the next few months?
I just started working with a new coaching team “Red Pill Coach”. So I have been on a different phases, started with a 5 week movement phase just going back to all basics and working on The oxidative system… then now I just started a strength phase but also adding 2 WODs each week then still working on the The oxidative system… and then after about 2 week I will start a Power phase that focuses on intensity and OLY lifting!!
What does a typical training week look like for you? How many sessions do you normally have each day?
I train 2-3 times a day – then I take active rest days on Thursdays and Sundays.
What qualities do you think every good coach should have?
They should understand the mind of their athlete, never be controlling, and willing to learn and hear your opinion.
"Winners never quit, quitters never win" . . This is one of my favorite quotes! What is yours? . . What are your current 1rm in the following lifts:
- Snatch: 95 kg / 210#
- Clean and Jerk: 112,5 kg
- Deadlift: 165 kg
- Back Squat: 140 kg
Finally 3kg over my double bodyweight in back squat…. "Easy" 141 kg /310# PR.. . . FIRST rule when you hit a PR that you ask somebody else if it was the right weight… Especially if you are getting used to using pounds . Second rule you must put Metallica on when you squat ✊ . . @niketraining #niketraining #justdoit #nike @mission6nutrition #OnAMission #Mission6 @FitAID #teamFitAID #FitAID #jaw #jawsome #jawgrips #jawambassador @compexusa #compexusa #musclestim @gingerreykjavik #harfaktory #cfsudurnes #dismakeup #crossfit @jaw_global
What advice would you give to Crossfitters that want to improve their engine and build conditioning?
Learn to enjoy it! And RUN A LOT.
What was the first CrossFit workout you ever did?
I think it was Helen but with strict pull ups because I didn´t know how to kip!
3 rounds for time : 5 rounds of : 3 power clean + 3 front squat + shoulder 2 ohd 205/145 # Then after 5 rounds : 15 strict HSPU . . Let's just say got real reaaaaalllly quick! . . @niketraining #niketraining #justdoit #nike @mission6nutrition #OnAMission #Mission6 @FitAID #teamFitAID #FitAID #jaw #jawsome #jawgrips #jawambassador @compexusa #compexusa #musclestim @gingerreykjavik #harfaktory #cfsudurnes #dismakeup #crossfit @jaw_global #mamamayhemgaragegym
What is the toughest workout you have ever done?
The Madison Triplet
THE CROSSFIT GAMES
How did you feel about your performance at The 2017 Games and what were your takeaways for going forwards into 2018?
I enjoyed it a lot, although I did not place as well as previous years. This year there were only 13 events so it was 200 points less then the last 2 years. And overall I placed better.
Why do you want to win the CrossFit Games?
I want to prove that you don´t need to have a sports background, with hard work and the right belief, anything is possible. I want to prove that if you set your mind to something and work hard for it you will get it!
If you could invent one Event for the 2018 CrossFit Games? What would it be and why?
strict muscle up
heavy squat snatches that get heavier in each set
How tough is it emotionally to go through 4 full days of events at the Games?
It takes a lot out of you, but the fans give you so much support an energy so these 4 day´s go by WAY TOO FAST.
You are one of the fittest women in the world. Many people have talent and many people work hard, yet only a few people manage to achieve what you have managed. What do you think marks you out?
My focus was always to out work everybody, I knew the other girls had the background and had the talent which made me want it even more, I wanted to prove what I was capable of with hard work and inner desire.
Name 3 bands that get you pumped up for training:
1. Black sabbath
3. Rage against the machine
If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?
That I could eat whatever I wanted and not get fat.
